There are numerous allied health professions in working in the health care industry that do a fantastic job treating lower back pain. They are able to diagnose what causes of your lower back pain, and even treat the body to reduce the back pain so that it is no longer a problem. Unfortunately, in the majority of these cases there is a re occurrence of the back pain that leads you back to the allied health professional over and over again.

Do you want to fix your problem rather than manage it?

To treat lower back pain you first need to treat the dysfunctional muscle, joint or tissue. However what also needs to occur is a strengthen program for the supporting structures around the dysfunctional area so that you can prevent the issue from re occurring.

Here is an example of this type of re occurrence:  a person has hip pain they have had it now for over 4 months she has tried a number of different therapists (which have not worked) and now her GP has suggested cortisone injections. The problem is not her hip, the problem is her posture, they have a number of weak postural muscles causing this problem, leading to dysfunction in the hip and hence hip pain. No matter how much treatment they have on their hip, no matter how many injections or manipulations they have this problem will persist until we correct their posture by strengthen the postural muscles that are causing this weakness.

Some techniques require more pressure and can be uncomfortable creating some pain, while other techniques are a lot lighter not causing any pain or discomfort.

The first treatment the therapist will be establishing what is happening. So you if you back pain we will be required to massage not only your back but other related areas such as the legs and hips to treat the back.
